What are Apprenticeships?
Distinctive Training also delivers Apprenticeship training programmes. Apprenticeships are government supported training schemes which offer a structured learning route within a working environment. An Apprentice will be expected to work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. This training programme is a great way for individuals to earn as they learn and for employers to discover skilled and talented employees.
At Distinctive, we provide work based training to those who want to learn new skills and gain qualifications whilst working. Due to training being ‘on the job’, the practical skills the learner will gain are the ones that are right for your business. As a result, Apprenticeships can make your organisation more effective, competent, productive and competitive by addressing skill gaps in the workplace. Anyone above 16 years old is eligible for an Apprenticeship, whether you have just left school, have been in employment for years or seeking a career change.
All Apprenticeships include the following core elements:
- an appropriate work-based qualification such as a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at either Level 2 or Level 3
- functional skills e.g. working in teams, problem-solving, communication, application of number and using new technology
- a technical qualification such as a BTEC or City & Guilds (relevant to the specific Apprenticeship)
- other qualifications or requirements as specified by the particular occupation.
We currently offer Apprenticeships in:
- Sales
- Business Administration
- Customer Service
- Contact Centre
Apprenticeships have various organisational benefits
Improved productivity
Apprenticeships train people how to apply the skills and knowledge to do their job more effectively thus creating a more productive workforce.
Motivated Workforce
As a result of their training, apprentices are more motivated and keen to learn. Their enthusiasm can also invigorate other staff members.
Relevant training
We deliver bespoke Apprenticeship training programmes to meet the needs of your business. This means that the training we offer will be relevant and tailored to the needs of your sector.
Avoid skills shortages
Apprenticeships allow you to invest in your business' future. By taking on an apprentice you can acquire specialist skills for your business that allow you to keep ahead of new technology.
How is Apprenticeship training delivered?
At Distinctive, the learning and training process is flexible, at times that are convenient to the employer and the learner. Each learner is allocated an individual Assessor to supervise and monitor their progress throughout the duration of the training scheme. However, there is also more in-depth off the job training that is imperative to the completion of an Apprenticeship programme.
Functional Skills
Functional skills are also an important and useful module that can be incorporated into an individual’s Apprenticeship programme. The Apprenticeship qualification gives the learner the opportunity to improve their functional skills such as communication, numeracy skills, team work, problem solving, improving own learning, and information technology. Functional Skills are essential skills that underpin success in education, employment, lifelong learning and personal development. These skills are essential to compete effectively in any workplace.
